We selected the rare orange push pop pheno of ‘ZZ-BOP’ to create ‘ZORG”.. the name is a nod to its orange candy flavor. When we basketweave breed within our genetics this closely.. (both are outcrosses with the same male genes: BOP) it’s a slight bottleneck of genetics. We kinda view it as an “F1.5” giving refinement and less variation than a F1 outbreed. So the genetics will show a smaller array of flavor, something we were relying on to make the orange push pop more prevalent. It was a success. Most of the genotypes were fresh orange juice forward. Others were sweeter reminiscent of orange sorbet popsicles. We also got a few peach phenos. Very distinct and stand alone, unquestionable peach flavor. More apparent than any plants we witnessed from ‘Marang’. ‘ZORG’ should be much wetter in the jar when compared to BOP. We selected that cut of ‘ZZ-BOP’ for the mix of tropical esters and grease that gives a jar the wetness the market demands. Test washes looked well above average again. Grams per square meter numbers coming soon. This would be our most candy Z offering for the ‘Marang’ line. There will be several juicy tropical fruit forward plants to make selecting a keeper quite difficult. These jars will turn heads.
